I don’t consider myself an avid thrift shopper, but when I am browsing around a vintage store, I keep my eye out for some steals! It’s incredible what you can find when you keep an open mind. I scored this chic wool duster coat from Goodwill from the men’s section. Staying warm in this bad boy isn’t an issue. Yes, the shoulder pads are still in tact. I’ll admit, at first when I realized this coat had them I wanted to go home immediately and remove them. After some thought, I decided to keep the 80’s trademark and let them be.
Mixing vintage pieces with current, new pieces is an amazing way to achieve a unique look that has a unique flare. With this outfit, I threw on my new H&M wool-blend turtleneck that you can shop, here. Beige patent leather Steve Madden flats that I’ve had for a few years and of course some cropped denim. Done! You’ve just created a LOOK with vintage and new pieces, but still pulling off that trendy vibe we’re all searching for. The vintage duster coat is the cherry on top and honestly, I actually really like the shoulder pads!
PSA: Don’t be scared to take a stroll through your local thrift store and do some digging. Like I mentioned before, I’m not superrrrr into it, but when I feel like it, I will definitely hunt for something cool and hope for the best! It can be fun to repurpose a piece also. Its all about keeping an open mind.
