If you read my last blog post about Valentine’s Day Date Ideas, you know that one of them involve hitting the town for dinner to try a new restaurant with your significant other. Which, duh…is the perfect time to throw on a festive outfit to show your holiday spirit.
The truth is, sometimes women just need an excuse to dress up and feel a little fancy. What better reason than going out to celebrate the day of love with your love?
Speaking of love, I loveee mixing an edgy vibe with a little bit of femininity. It’s fun, spunky and makes a daring statement. The look that I’m wearing in this post did just that. In the name of being on theme with Vday, I paired a simple blush long sleeve sweater with a shining silver metallic pleated skirt. I found this combo to be a great contrast because you get that touch of edge with the bold skirt, yet dialing it down a bit with a clean pink top. Adding a touch of one of my favorite colors (black) I put on my leather jacket and black tights for a cohesive appeal. The mix of textures is another factor that adds a spark to this outfit. You can see the radiance beaming off the metallic skirt, but it’s nicely complimented with the soft, almost creamy feel from the blouse. Mixing textures is just another method that delivers the image of a well put together outfit.
So, if you’re thinking, “I don’t wear skirts, dresses, etc, like ever, let alone something metallic!” – that’s fine. I don’t wear them that often either (including a metallic piece), but I feel it is important to be inclusive for the type of women that do enjoy sporting this type of lavish look. Don’t fret – I’m including a Valentine’s Day look next week for the “cozy gal” that may want to spend the evening in with her significant other or host a game night with her friends! Stay tuned!
UPDATE: I have added “Picks for Valentine’s Day” to the home page and sidebar of the blog! It includes tonssss of options for pieces you can wear that include earrings, blouses, sweaters, shoes, pants, skirts, etc.
